Undergraduate Bursaries

£7,986 has been raised from 28 donors.

The number of undergraduates needing bursary support at Keble is steadily growing, in part due to the success of our Access & Outreach programmes. Around 20% of current students (over 90 students) receive some form of bursary support each year. Grants (usually between £500 and £3,500) are awarded to students according to the means-testing process completed upon application (bursaries are available on a sliding scale to students who have a household income).

The Keble community is very proud of its origins as one of the only Oxbridge colleges which was founded with a clear access agenda. 150 years later access has never been more important. We are reaching out to Keble’s alumni to help us achieve a mission which is worthy of our founder’s remarkable achievement - to match the bursary offer of the most generous Oxford colleges. This will ensure that no student of merit is deterred from applying to Keble for financial reasons.

The Giving Day provides an accessible way for donors to contribute to this vitally important area of support.

“I am a second year Geography student at Keble, and I study quite abstract philosophical human geography, and physical geography, and will do a dissertation over the next year on climate science. I am really enjoying my degree, and have been doing a lot of things outside of my academic study as well. I have been volunteering with the Chapel, which is a really lovely community, I also volunteer with OxfordHub, a charity in the city, and provide English tuition to non-English speakers. The Dent Bursary has enabled me to do all of these things without worrying about the week-to-week finances, and I can buy a new pair of shoes or a new coat when I need to. When I was in Amsterdam for fieldwork recently, the Bursary was really helpful with covering my expenses. I am very grateful for the support.”
